Sometimes Vancouver or waterfront homes PEI owners feel like changing up the look of their homes. Either on the inside or the outside. They might have some grand renovation ideas that will make their homes sparkle. Change for the sake of change is sometimes needed. A new coat of paint in your bedroom or installing new kitchen cabinets are couple of home renovation ideas to consider. A lot of the times home owners decide against following through on their plans to renovate their 130 Carlton condo or Toronto home because they think it's too much work. They don't want to go through the process of hiring a professional. However, there are some renovation projects you can do that don't require the use of a professional.
If you're thinking of tackling a home renovation project and don't want to hire a professional and are looking for something easy you can do on your own, then we suggest hanging wallpaper. You don't need to hire a professional to hang wallpaper up in your King West lofts, if you can follow our simple steps.
Before starting your wallpaper project, you need to determine how much wallpaper you will actually need. So figure out what exactly you want to cover up with wallpaper and factor in the design of the wall. Measure up your wall and write those measurements down. You can just give them to the staff at whatever store you'll be buying your wallpaper at. It also doesn't hurt to buy a little more than you need. Once you have your wallpaper, you can start preparing for the project at hand. That means removing old wallpaper that was previously on the wall you will be decorating. Then clean the area that the wallpaper will be going on. If there are any holes, cracks or dry paint on the wall, you will need to repair them. Eventually once that is all done you can prepare the surface of the wall or walls with wallpaper primer. Also, if you plan on painting areas near the wall such as doors or the ceiling, do that beforehand. You will also need to make sure the area you will be wallpapering is level and the corners are straight.
Once you get all that out of the way, you can start the process of hanging the wallpaper. If you are renovating your condo in the hopes of listing it as an Edmonton condo for sale in the real estate listings, you'll want to follow these steps carefully. Measure the space of the wall from the ceiling to the floor and leave yourself about an extra 5cm at the top and bottom. Then cut the first strip of wallpaper you'll be hanging. Apply some paste to the paper if you aren't using pre-pasted wallpaper. Start at the ceiling and work your way down. Smooth the piece of wallpaper you just put up with a smoothing brush or plastic smoother. If there are wrinkles, you can remove them by pulling a piece of the wallpaper away from the wall. If there are no wrinkles or air bubbles, let the paste dry and then trim the piece of wallpaper you put up. Then you can put on the next piece and align it with the one you just put up. You want to make sure the patterns are lining up. Then roll the pieces of wallpaper with a seam roller. Do that every 10 minutes. Then keep putting up as many pieces of wallpaper as needed to fill out the wall and repeat the steps we mentioned.
There you have it. Not that hard, right? If you ever one day decide to sell your property you can brag to the Toronto real estate brokers that you did the wallpapering job yourself.
